Merrimack College is a smaller college in North Andover, Massachusetts. It was founded in 1942 with its initial goal being to educate WW II veterans after they returned home from war. Preferred Mechanical, having completed previous projects such as an ice rink and athletic complex for the college, was contracted on a design build basis to engineer and install a HVAC system for a new three story classroom building. The systems installed are primarily variable air volume terminals with rooftop units, supplemented by ductless split systems in critical environments. A digital control system incorporates motion/occupancy sensing, as well a building pressure and CO2 demand control ventilation to ensure the building operates at peak efficiency.
